Library vs Music Files

I think there is a subtle difference here. iTunes 7 added the option to choose multiple libraries and to keep them in user-defined locations. Previously users only had the option of keeping the music files in a different location. It's very likely that iTunes only mounts shares automatically when the library resides on the network share. In fact, this would be the correct behavior since the only way to keep the music separate is to have an unmanaged library.

Hey, that would be the key!
I will test this asap, because it definetely makes sense.
The original poster of this hint didn't mention anything about moving the actually library data files, though..
Maybe, as a roundup, this new info could be submitted as a new hint? (i normally don't read all these comments...;-)
