I believe that iTunes bases duplication-when-adding on the filename. Perhaps ID3 data is considered as well. Since aliases are so cool, I imagine that iTunes knows that you have changed the file name of a track and knows that it's the same file. I tried dnd'ing a changed-filename file and it wouldn't add it, so perhaps ID3 data is a factor. Am I incorrect: if you change a Song Name, iTunes *may* change its filename if you have "Keep organized" checked. Afterall, iTunes tries to keep track of your music library files...wasn't that a complaint about 8 versions ago?
