no offense, but you're quite so wrong... generas, and so on doesn't have anything to do with it, cause the only information itunes sends to the server is artist name, and album name, via standard http no less... do some packet sniffing and you'll see my friend ;)

...the reason for why some albums didn't get artwork, is most likely simply cause the server timed out and died, how many people world over do you think requested artwork during those few first days? how many http requests does that become in the course of a few hours or a few days? well, with my own library, it'd be somewhere around 500-700 album cover requests... and thats me alone, how many itunes users is there out there? ;) i dare almost not think about it, but my guess is at least a few billion requests within the first 6-24 hours... heh

jimeh, I totally agree with your theory on the several thousands if not millions of hits the apple server took in the first 48 hours. And while packed sniffing is far beyond my abilities, I feel this hint still has some merit. I had several albums that I attempted to download individual covers for over the course of a few days. Every time, as soon as I changed info, say dance to electronic, the album artwork would upload.
