What I'm saying is:

Get your files off the card and copied onto your hard drive.

THEN, browse to your heart's content, using whatever you want.

This is just the prudent thing to do. Like I said...you may get away with it 99 times out of 100, but on that one occasion where it fails you, you will be kicking yourself in the butt. It's never happened to me, but then, I follow the advice I've always read about NOT browsing from the card, or doing anything but transferring the data as smoothly as possible to a hard drive.

Given an either/or scenario...I've never read any in-depth articles where the author would recommend browsing directly from the card from your computer over copying them first and THEN browsing.

But hey, it's YOUR data. You can do whatever you want. But don't come a'bawling if you lose images.

So after spoiling my joy over winning a prize, you now say that you actually do not care about OUR data and if we were ever to lose data you would be the last person we could come "a'bawling" to?

What have I done to you?

I know you're being facetious, but in an effort to set others square about the intent of my message and commentary:

Everyone can do what they want. I really don't care. That's like asking me to care deeply about somebody's dog that gets killed along a highway 5 states away. It sucks, but there's nothing can do about it.

But what I do care about is the widespread dissemination of information that could prove injurious. I care about offering a obverse view, when that view might be worth some careful consideration.

Do I care to spend time citing innumerable sources, or proving my worth as a commentator?

No to that as well.

Don't get me wrong—I'm happy you won your prize. I just think the award was given under some dubious criteria.

Congratulations! You've won the first annual "best rain on someone's parade" contest. Your prize of sour grapes will arrive in the mail.

And to keep this comment topical, it seems like a pretty good hint to me. Learning of a new undocumented behavior is always welcome, and I can think of a few cases where I would find it useful to peek directly at the contents of my camera's memory. Chill out, man.
