Use Windows XP from Virtual PC with Boot Camp
I created the boot disk from VPC7, and got window to start the install. But when it got to the activation, I imputed my product key (right off the original box) it would not except it.

I slipstreamed a version of XP SP1 from an older Dell Dimension 1800, and NONE of the product keys from that or another machine would activate the XP under Parallels. An XP Product Key is tracked by Microsoft's "Activation Server". After some number of installs, the product key "expires". I had to go through about 3 hours of "Telephone Activation" before Microsoft support realized that I had a legitimate copy and an expired product key. Get ready to copy down 54 digits. The final process I had required downloading programs sent by an MS tech to "fix" my copy under Parallels. But its working slick now.... |
