10.4: Add Nokia 6103 iSync support
Authored by: zakai on Sep 06, '06 09:47:31AM

Hello all.. here is the problem. I modified iSync as instructed and paired my phone effortlessly to my desktop G4, added the device to the isync program and synchroized, then copied the same application file to my intel laptop and could not add the device there, the scan sees the device but fails with the error oh "this type device can not be added".

Same application file, works on G4, fails on macbook pro, both latest version of system, similar software configuration. The 6103 will pair bluetooth wise and will exchange files, conect to address book etc.. but will not sync.

Clearly thre is something more going on..

thoughts?

Check your file ownership and permissions. You stated you "copied" the file, so it's easy to get it wrong.

Did you copy the whole iSync application? That's not a good idea; just move the .plist and icon file.

I figured out that I actually had to make sure that all of my phone contacts are saved to the phone memory. In order to accomplish this, follow the following procedure:

Copying all contacts — SIM card to phone or phone to SIM card

To copy all contacts from the SIM card to the phone or from the phone to the SIM card, perform the following steps on your 6103:

1. At the main screen, select Menu.

2. Scroll to and select Phone Book.

3. Select Names.

4. Select Options.

5. Scroll to and select Copy.

6. Scroll to and select From SIM card to phone.

7. Select All.

8. Select either Keep original or Move Original.

9. Select Yes.

10. Select OK.

11. Press the red End key to exit.

That was pretty painless. Now all your contacts are stored on your phone. To make sure that continues to happen, do the following:

1. At the main screen, select Menu.

2. Scroll to and select Phone Book.

3. Scroll to and select Settings.

4. Select Memory in Use.

5. Select Phone.

6. Press the red End key to exit.

That should do it. If you've followed the above instructions and correctly edited the MetaClasses.plist file, you will now be able to sync your 6103.
