Use another guide provider for EyeTV in UK

Elgato use Titan TV for the US and tvtv for Europe. While Titan TV is a free service, tvtv is not (although a years subscription is included with EyeTV). Both are supposedly for 14 days (I have not used either).

The DVB embedded EPG (also free) is usually only for the next seven days.

I have sent a request to Elgato (twice) suggesting they add support for the open and free standard XMLTV standard which would let them add free programme information for many more countries including the UK. In the UK the Radio Times for example currently provide two weeks worth of programme listings free of charge (in XMLTV compatible form).

There is even existing open source code to use XMLTV that has already been ported to Mac OS X.

See http://membled.com/work/apps/xmltv/
and http://pdb.finkproject.org/pdb/package.php/xmltv

There is even a TV listings widget for Mac OS X's Dashboard written using XMLTV for goodness sake! See http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/movie_tv/xmltv.html

Perhaps other readers could add their requests to Elgato for XMLTV support.

Nice try, but I reckon Elgato has a commercial deal with tvtv/Titan to offer the EPG, therefore it probably receives some form of commission from new subscriptions.

But good luck with the campaign!
