I had luck using AppleJack to do a deep cleaning of all caches.

I had to reset PRAM on my MacBookPro (2GHz). That fixed it. I was going mad trying to figure out what happened. Do this:

1. Shut the computer off.

2. Restart holding the Option-Command-R-P keys down, wait for three "bongs" and release keys.

That should do it, when it comes back up you should be able to lock your screen again.
