A workaround for a Palm Bluetooth HotSync error
Authored by: chull on Jul 27, '06 03:06:16PM

I tried "Set up Bluetooth device" and that seemed to work. I had an additional symptom that a "pass key" dialog kept popping up on both my Mac and Treo 700

You might try this...

* Go to Bluetooth drop down and select "Set up Bloetooth device"
* Make sure the phone display is on during this process, else it can't be discovered.
* Select the phone once it appears in the list. You will then see "Gathering information about your device" Click Continue

* The next screen you should see will request you to enter a 6 digit key on the phone side. The phone screen should have a dialog box up asking you to enter that number. This will pair the phone with the MAc. You need to do it within a few seconds, else you will get an error on the Mac side.
* You will be given the option to link Macside functionality (Access the Internet with your phone's data

connection). Uncheck all. Click Continue

After that, you should be all set.

The next Hotsync won't ask for a key and should just work. It has worked several times in a row.

Mac OS-X 10.4.7
Palm Desktop 4.2.2
MacBook Pro
Treo 700p

Best of luck;

A workaround for a Palm Bluetooth HotSync error

This last hint did the magic for me, I had moved all my files to a new computer and couldn't connect. Thank you!

But note: not all phones will get the prompt described by "You will be given the option to link Macside functionality (Access the Internet with your phone's data connection". Mine didn't, but the hint still worked.
