Burn with an 'unsupported' Pioneer 111D DVD writer
Authored by: Schwie on Jul 25, '06 06:00:57PM

After failing to upgrade the firmware in my 110D and turning into a brick, I returned it to Pioneer as it was still on warranty.

The replacement arrived today and it was a Pioneer DVR-111DBK! How nice. I popped it inside my trusty 15-inch flat panel iMac, set the 111 to "cable select" mode, and fired the iMac back up. Just finished reading a CD without a problem. Thanks Pioneer for replacing it, but why can't they create a reliable way to upgrade their firmware from a Mac? This one has 1.19, but I'm leery to try going up to their latest, 1.23. If I ever figure it out, I'll post back.
