Bug, not feature

Ugh...this is a bug, not a feature. Why should anything on the computer stop when you do a mousedown? It's like a haunting throwback to OS9, where you could starve the CPU simply by leaving a menu open. I would have thought that by now, modern, true-multitasking, Unix-based OS X would not stoop to halting some processes just because a context menu's gone up. This seems wrong.
