Use Windows XP from Virtual PC with Boot Camp
I've tried to do this using the i386 folder on disk 2 of the XP Home install that came with VPC version 6, but no luck. The SP2 slipstream process fails--says files needed to do the integration are missing. If I make an image with bcd without the SP2 files, it completes, but if I try to run the installer using that completed image, it asks me to put a copy of XP Home Service Pack 1 (???) in the drive to continue, which obviously I don't have. I assume it wants some other kind of win5lic file, but where do I get it and call it?
Use Windows XP from Virtual PC with Boot Camp
Never mind the previous. I got the slipstream to work--I had been putting a space between the -s switch and the path, but without the space SP2 applied just fine, and then my ISO image worked perfectly to install XP home on parallels and the activation went without a hitch as well. Hallelujah! Don't need to buy another copy of Windows to use now that Virtual PC is obsolete! Many thanks! T |
