Temporarily freeze moving web ads on certain laptops

Icky workaround. Can't scroll with it.

That's step one. This will take care of 70% of the ads on sites you visit.

Step two is to use a browser with ad blocking, like Camino or Firefox. If ads are a concern, Safari is not the browser you should be using.

When you need to scroll, just press and hold on the scroller. While you hold the scroller, the ads are static.

Actually, I use Safari with PithHelmet primarliy because it's filtering ability is vastly better than that of Firefox. That and the fact that it's well integrated with the Apple interface. FF has great functionality but is still a little kludgy.

I agree, why stop ads from moving when you can prevent them from being loaded in the first place?! :)

my solution (using only Free Software) is to run the "squid" caching proxy on my linux box, and use in the adzapper plugin for squid. I'm quite shocked when I surf on someone else's computer and see all the ads.
