As for being able to close the terminal window, read the hint referenced in some other comment by me below. As for being able to run an application as another user, you can do so with the sudo command. That, though, will only be possible for admin users, since they are the only ones able to run "sudo" (unless you tinker with the OS). Following the refenced linked below, this is how you would do it
