Burn with an 'unsupported' Pioneer 111D DVD writer

The 110D worked fine for me until I tried updating the firmware to the latest release using DVDFlashX in my 15-inch 800 Mhz Flat Panel iMac. The firmware flash seemed to be going just fine and then it reported an error message and after that it was completely dead. No LEDs, drive spin up, or anything.

I read on another forum that if you update the firmware, you HAVE to use a true UDMA 100 IDE connection and I think the iMac is a true UDMA 66, so this is probably why it failed for me. That or else the kernel I was attempting to install was bad. Atleast it was on warranty and I should be getting the replacement soon.
