Watch All QT Compatible Movies in Front Row

Here's another trick I've learned:
  1. Use Tinker Tool to show all the hidden files on your computer. You can also do this with some terminal magic, but I'll leave that up to you to figure out.
  2. Go to your "root" directory (the main icon on your Desktop). You should see a formerly hidden folder called "Volumes".
  3. Cmd-Option-Drag the Volumes folder to your Movies folder to create an alias there.
  4. Re-hide your hidden files (again, use your preferred method).
Now when you go to the "Movies" section of Front Row, you will see a sub-folder called "Volumes". From there, you can browse your entire hard drive and any disk attached to your computer, including networked drives. I often use this trick to play DivX movies that I've burned to DVD.

Hi renderhead

An EVEN easier "trick" without even using Tinker Tool (OR the terminal) is:

1. In Finder: Choose the "Go" menu and then "Go to folder" (Shift-Cmd-G)
2. Write "Volumes"
3. Voila! You are in the hidden volumes folder without tampering with your files. Now: Cmd-Option-Drag the little icon of the folder in the upper part of the window to your desired folder (ie. Movies)

Easier than that is hard to do..

A year later, but still there is a need to play divx-files in Front Row :)
Thanks for the tip anyway, I had been looking for this for days..
