Fix certificate errors in Safari and Mail when using AKO
Authored by: cerniuk on Jun 19, '06 09:07:41AM
There is actually a very staunch Macintosh contingency in the AKO NOC. The Army Homepage, part of AKO, runs on Mac OS X / XServe. Although outside their lane, that team tries to produce supporting documentation, hints and tips for the AKO Portal users. One tip for all Mac users is to use Camino for a better portal experience. Safari has a show stopper bug that the portal illuminates constantly and Camino bypasses that. I keep Camino around for strictly that reason. Anyway, if you do a search in google for AKO + mac + mail + settings, currently the 8th entry is http://www.army.mil/ako/email/index.html . Also, the contact form on the public AKO pages at http://www.army.mil/ako/ are monitored by the Army Homepage IT team... If all Mac users would send in praises or polite but firm complaints with specific examples of portal problems to the AKO Help Desk, AKO will listen. Right now, Mac users are not squeaky wheels and it is believed that no Mac users use the portal... Send the polite but firm complaints to the Help Desk, not the public form listed above. No squeak, no oil... squeak loud, hard and often for results. A considerable number of Generals and high ranking Army civilians are Mac users and they should not hesitate to voice opinion either and especially now... The Help Desk feedback link is on this page: http://help.us.army.mil/cgi-bin/rightnow.cfg/php/enduser/home.php. Make sure you use your AKO email address on the form.
