10.4: OS X 10.4.3 update released
Authored by: harrydelano on Jun 13, '06 06:44:37AM
I have been trying to install X11 on my iBook (v. 10.4.6, 1.25GB, 25GB,1.2GHz) . I downloaded the X11 distribution from http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/x11formacosx.html but when I try to install it I get "You cannot install X11 on this volume. Newer software already exists on your computer."

I've seen many references to this message in other places and the solution seems to be to load X11 from the Tiger DVD. Problem is, I don't have it. I got the v. 10.4.6 via Software Update.

Does that mean I have to come up with $129 to get X11 working on my Mac?

BTW, I've tried the fink approach that has been suggested and didn't get very far.

Thanks,

Harry DeLano
