Anyone have a freeware utility/tip on doing this magic that Toast does? (make an ISO look like a CD enough to fool VirtualPC)

Sorry, I don't know of any, but you might consider just burning a DVD-R. It works if you do that.

I haven't tested this with the Vista image, but you can often rename the file extension to ".img" and let the OS mount the disc image directly. At least this works with any .toast image; your mileage may vary.

Yeah, I've managed to mount the ISO so I can see it like any other mounted disk image, but unfortunately VirtualPC only seems to look at either the hardware (as earlier responder noted) or a sub-2GB disk image file. So Toast tricks the whole system into thinking there is another hardware drive there, I'm guessing.
