gmail+pop access+mail.app=Sweet.
I don't even use my ISP account. No ads and offsite backup that is easily accessible from virtually any computer. I like it a lot :)

Gmail+POP+mail.app
- double spam filter: Mail.app segregates junk not retained by the almost perfect Gmail spam blocker.
- mail web access: what Gmail is for.
- automatic "backup" of your mail (set Gmail to archive, not to delete).
- access from mobile (http://m.gmail.com works great on my iMate sp5m).

"almost perfect Gmail spam blocker" - is this a joke???? Gmail's spam filtering is the worst I have ever seen.

I only use my gmail account for file storage, and I get approximately 25 spam a day on my gmail account.

And no, it isn't because someone I know had their address book harvested by spyware or viruses... I am the only person who knows about the account, and it only sends mail to itself via the web interface.

My 'public' hotmail account, that I have been using for 7+ years doesn't get nearly the amount of spam that my gmail account does.
