Use Windows XP from Virtual PC with Boot Camp
This works great, I did it a few weeks ago, but I have not yet given the devil his due... Has anyone tried to actually activate it with Microsoft? I'm just playing so I don't care if I have to blow it away in a month when it requires activation.
for Japanese people who arrived here at last,
I got a success with small modifications on "Bart's way to..".
I have Virtual PC for Mac ver6.1 (Japanese) came with WinXP (with no SP applied). 1. I found "I386" folder in the 3rd disc. Don't forget to rename the folder to "i386", after copying to HDD. 2. Japanese Windows SP2 patch program has totally different name. Refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900871 3. The SP2 patch program runs only on WinXP. I first tried on win2000, but failed in file merging process.

In case you've tried the link for instructions on slipstreaming and had no luck, here is another set of instructions at the following website: http://www.theeldergeek.com/slipstreamed_xpsp2_cd.htm
I have just acquired Virtual PC 6.1 and am attempting to slip stream from XP Pro to SP2. I think this is the original XP Pro, so I'll need to slipstream SP1 first, then SP2. My questions are: Has anyone successfully done this with VPC 6.1? The other question is; Do I need to put in the intervening rollup of XP prior to SP2? Or? Can I just install SP2 without the rollup?, which is much more involved. |
