Hints site upgrade happening Friday afternoon...
Don't you kind of start to think that if it's requiring you to have major downtime every time you upgrade, then maybe you shouldn't be using Geeklog? There are so many different content management systems out there that surely one of them can beat Geeklog's features and not require massive downtime...

Actually Rob didn't state that it would definitely take up to 5 hours, he said that for them to ensure they do it right it might take them that long.
Any CMS upgrade that involves database changes can run into issues during the upgrade. This happens no matter what system you use. Actually having downtime sucks. Having extra downtime you didn't plan ahead for because you didn't give yourself enough time sucks a lot more. Here's hoping it only takes an hour or less, but let's be glad they have planned out the time to work on things if something crops up.
