A fix for 'User failed to respond' iChat connection errors

That error usually means there's some port blocked between the two users. This could be at their routers or at the ISPs between them. If you're trying to chat with someone at work, their companies firewall might block the needed ports and you could get the same error.

The Apple iChat AV forums offer a lot of help with such problems.

well what actually did work for me right now:

i changed the port to 443 and didnt work.
then i said let's make my Mac a DMZ server.
when i activated DMZ on my Mac it worked.

at least i can do this for now, anytime i need to video chat. small price to pay i guess for not having anything.

i've tried all those solutions, back in the day. one day i'll double check the settings again, but i've been disappointed. It should be a little bit easier to configure.
