Count me as one who misses Sherlock, at least in it's full glory, not the semi-functional state that its in now as of Tiger.

I always thought Sherlock (and Watson) were great in that it could customize the web, so to speak, for info that ordinarily might require the user to visit several websites to accomplish the given purpose. The Movie channel was a good example in that it gave you a well executed easy-to-understand UI for showtimes, additional movie and theater info, and a preview of the movie. All in one window, in one shot. The now departed phone book channel was another one that gave you everything (map, driving directions, and results based on the closest to your actual address - if you had a address card for yourself set up in Apple's address book) all in a single window. Widgets, by and large don't offer that kind of functionality, and they will generally send you to your browser for info that could have been included in Sherlock's single window approach.

It would have been nice to see Apple build on Sherlock and take it to the next level by incorporating say, Spotlight technologies or Google maps to further enhance it's abilities. Widgets are great, but they are pretty much one trick ponies so far. In that regard, Sherlock was a quite a powerful tool, with as much potential as the web itself and more. Sad to see it just wither away, chanel by chanel, frozen in it's version 3 state, because there just isn't anything else out there quite like it out there that I know of.
