This hint's also useful for sharing a connection from built-in firewire to built-in ethernet and vice versa, since they use the same address scheme.

To add to it a bit: You may have to assign a fake IP address to the port that you want to be doing the serving (such as and make it its own gateway. Then on the machines you want to add to the network, you just stick them on the same subnet ( and set the gateway/broadcast address to the natd-ing machine (.1)
