I think you might have other problems that this is working around. I have had no problems using Yahoo! mail's address auto completion on any browser or machine (I have both a PPC mac and an MBP that I use).

Try changing the "PPC" in your browser's useragent string to "Intel" and see how well it works for you ;-)

Errr... he has an IBMC --> Mac Book Pro... which DOES have the Intel in the userstring... he HAS ZERO problems.

I have an Intel based Mac as well, and I've been using Firefox since, well, before any official Firefox builds for OS X and I've never had any issues with Yahoo Mail nor any issues that I could even come close to tracking back to Intel in the userstring. Most problems where browser based, like broken SVG implementation (since fixed), broken flash plug-ins (worked around until Adobe fixes), no Java support (JEP has since been updated).

I have to agree with the parent on this one -- there are probably other underlying problems causing issues.

For example -- I have been running my user agent string for a LONG LONG time (before the big Intel announcement :)

"Google-Browser/0.99 (OS/X-Leopard_Intel; 64-bit)"

This is regardless of browser I use (Safari or Firefox)...

I just followed my own advice to confirm the hint. I changed "PPC" back to "Intel" in useragent, and Yahoo! Mail doesn't offer to autocomplete addresses. Changed it to "PPC" and autocomplete works. All this in a running browser, no other system changes.

At least in this specific case, a site is being too strict about how it interprets useragent, and doesn't serve the same Javascript each time.
