why not use Migration Assistant in the utility folder.. that way you get all your preferences and bookmarks?

Having just migrated from a first generation G5 iMac to a new Intel iMac, you don't want to use Migration Assistant and spend an extra few days replacing over written "Universal" or "Intel only" files and settings.

The best way to move/migrate settings in this situation is by individual moves (as described) from backup files.

you could have only moved your users and NOT the applications, /Library, and any system stuff.. I have moved 15 users over to the new MacBook Pro with no issues.
