if you find option-escape or F5 too cumbersome as keyboard shortcuts, don't forget the global cocoa keybinding customizations offered through
~/library/keybindings/defaultkeybinding.dict
(see this previous hint, for example).

subethaedit's faq lists the actual code (search for autocomplete).

There still needs to be some easier method for copying common information, such as a Work address, between several contacts.

My "workaround" for that issue was to make a template entry of all the similair information for my work associates. The phone number minus the extension, the email address minus the person's name, etc.
