Drag attachments from Mail to Mail to attach anew

Why not simply select the attachment and forward the message? The forwarded message will contain only the attachment. No need to drag and drop anything.

There's nothing "wrong" with doing it your way, too. No reason you can't do either one. The point of a hint is to tell you how to do something, but it's not necessary that the hint tell you the *best* way to do something.

Some people have a different style of interacting with the machine. The windowed GUI has given us lots of alternatives. It's good to know about them, if you're a hints geek [and you are, or you wouldn't be here].

Drag attachments from Mail to Mail to attach anew

Yeah, it's a minor hint, and I'm hardly new to the concept of drag-and-drop, thank you very much, but it was an unexpected victory when I tried it instinctively and had it actually work.

I also know that you can drag attachments directly from a Mail message into a Transmit window to have the attached file uploaded to a remote server.

I guess I'm just pleased with how well drag-and-drop has been implemented in Mail with regard to attachments. Tricks like this didn't always work before.

Maybe some would prefer for me to have written an Applescript to do it?

Also worth pointing out is that my way is one step. Selecting the attachment then clicking "Forward" is two. ;)

Yeah*, but it's a long one ;-)
I never thought to drop a file on the app. I always make a new message and drop the file in the window. So the hint helped me in more ways than one.

*and besides, it's drag AND drop.... ;-)
