OmniWeb, Launchbar
Just by way of information OmniWeb has the same feature. In fact, a Google keyword is built in: Just type "google [search phrase] [RETURN]". You can, of course, change the keyword to "g" or "?" or whatever you prefer.
As a LaunchBar user, this concept is old hat. I open Apps, documents, favorite web sites, etc all from the keyboard. To get to this site I hit "[CTRL-SPACE]hin[RETURN]" The beauty part, I didn't have to set up anything special (other than bookmarking Mac OS X Hints) to make that happen. LaunchBar is very intelligent and remembers your preferences. If you haven't tried LaunchBar, give it a spin from Versiontracker. In my view, it's the Finderpop of OS X... truly changes the way you interact with your Mac.
OmniWeb: Add keyword shortcuts
To add your own keyword shortcuts to OmniWeb, open Preferences, choose Shortcuts and add lines similar to these (first Shortcut, then Destination URL):
Mozilla VT Search shortcut?
I tried the above omniweb shortcut for searching version tracker in Mozilla and it doesn't work. Anyone able to make a functioning VersionTracker OSX search shortcut for mozilla? |
