Set up a Belkin wireless print server
Authored by: jchaban on Feb 25, '06 02:23:25PM

Sooooo close with our advice. Only I have an HP OfficeJet 5510 all-in-one and I can't seem to make it work. I am running OS 10.4.5

so my entries were:

Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD
Address: (which I can get to by directly entering the url in Safari)
Queue: lp1 (yes, lowercase "L")
Name: WiFi
Location: Closet

THEN, I hold Option Key and press "More Printers...." button

That takes me to a dialogue where I enter:

Device Name: LPD/LPR Host or Printer
Device URL: (i tried it with the lpd:// and without it .. same result)
Printer Model: HP
Type: Gimp print 4.2.7 for HP 560C which I'm told is compatible by HP

Result: Job hangs while printing, then when I "start job" it stops the queue.

I'm ready to pull my hair out!!!!!! hoping you can help and thanks in advance!

HP OfficeJet 5510 problem

It sounds like a driver problem. Does the printer work fine when it's attached directly to the computer? Did you try both gimp and HP drivers?
How about printing from a Windows PC, does that give any problems or do you not have a windows machine in your network?
If it prints but stops, it obviously can communicate with the print server, so yes, you are half way there...
