10.4: Install OS X without first rebooting from DVD

I tried this when I needed to do a test installation recently. I had to bless the volume from the command line; it didn't get blessed during the installation...

10.4: Install OS X without first rebooting from DVD

Please see my comment above about --bootefi.

Somehow, the installer is asking "bless" to tell the target volume to "bootefi" on a machines that shouldn't know EFI from a hole in the wall.

I wonder what gives?

And aside from that, although I've read the man page for bless many times, the biggest blessing I've ever bestowed upon a volume is to specify the -folder (and/or -folder9 for OS 9)) options. Could you, pretty please, spell it out for this poor beta-geek?
