Lint-free Cloth + Alcohol
If the ball stops scrolling, just dab a cloth in alcohol--don't over-saturate the cloth. Run the mouse upside down over the cloth. Works fine.

Good idea, especially if you eat crisps or fat food when using it !

Lint-free Cloth + Alcohol
Lint free cloth + alcohol is what worked for me. I was in a hurry so used a clean linen handkerchief and vodka. Just turning mouse upside down and rolling the ball around didn't work for me. I felt that suggestions such as depressing the ball and fishing around with a paperclip, or dismantling the mouse carried too high a risk of damage.
Lint-free Cloth + Alcohol
Handkerchief and vodka is the practical solution it worked a treat for me. Made me smile again...
