The official Apple way is to hold the mouse upside down and roll the ball around. I find that blowing in it also helps. Compress air - all the better.

I am however on my third mouse. When you can't rescue them, it's very annoying. I think it's a real design flaw. Thankfully they have a 12 month warranty.

I'm on my second, and it is getting wonky too, I agree that it's just a poor design. After 45 minutes and two phone calls to Apple support to have the first one replaced, I lost money. This will definitely be the last one, wonder if throwing into the street from my upstairs balcony would have any effect?

Thanks. Turning the mouse overand rolling it worked for me. However, this is the second mouse that this has happened to me, and it is annoying.
