AppleCare
I was given this instruction once from an AppleCare tech a couple weeks ago. It didn't solve my particular problem, but the tech explained to me that this can solve a very specific problem that they have encountered. I meant to post it on MacOSXHints.com but I completely forgot about it. Interesting to see posted, though.
iTunes receipts
Just a "me too" if anyone is curious: I removed the older iTunes receipts, and the ability of DiskUtility to work was instantly restored.
iTunes receipts
kind of a quirky fix, eh? any reason in particular why this works?
iTunes receipts
I was reading up on this when the problem surfaced on my system, and if I'm not mistaken, Repairing Permissions only looks at the apps that are in the Receipts folder for comparison, what's in Receipts tells DU what the permissions are supposed to be. Remove the reference from Receipts and Disk Utility won't be comparing the app to anything. |
