Use MacDrive on Windows to read a 'dead' HFS disk

Totally true! I had a Laptop hard disk that had totally failed. Is gave S.M.A.R.T hardware failure and motor cut with every slight movement. Our local Apple reseller and service supplier failed miserably to recover anything from it.

I placed it in an external hard disk case and tried the MacDisk (Not a typo, this is another software to read Mac disks in the PC, not as fancy but it works). This worked beautifully and I was able to recover ALL files from the disk. The motor failed a couple of times during the restore but after a couple of trials all files were saved.
