10.4: Install OS X without first rebooting from DVD

If you first create a disk image of your Tiger DVD and keep that handy on a local disk for situations liek this, you'll significantly speed up the installation process..

The nice thing about Tiger is that Tiger's Installer.app will succesfully install Panther from multiple disks/disk images on another drive. (previously you could only install disk 1, reboot from the newly installed volume and be prompted for the next disk(s), now when you run Panther's OSInstall.mpkg you'll be prompted for disk2 and 3 when needed throughout the installation)

If you need to quickly install a clean OS on a couple of macs open OSInstall.mpkg from a disk image on a hard drive is probably the fastest reliable way possible :)
