Modify the default search engine URL in Firefox 1.5

Can also just do this:
1. type about:config in the address bar
2. add a new string type called "keyword.URL" with value "http://www.google.com.au/search?q="
3. restart firefox.

Now when you type in a word or phrase in the address bar (not the seach bar), it will run a google search on it by default. You don't even need to show or use the search box.

Alternatively, you can also add this to your user.js file:
user_pref("keyword.URL", "http://www.google.com.au/search?q=");

Or, if not particularly fond of mucking about with the entrails of Firefox, simply get the extension called "Search Engine Ordering", to be found here:

and stop fiddling, unless you're really looking for a way to waste time.
