VLC fixes quicktime glitches!
Authored by: zahadum on Dec 28, '05 01:08:07PM

quicktime (and therefore itunes) has always been terrible about playing muxed files (which predominate on windoze for some reason).

crash freeze & hang has been the terror awaiting almost every file not created using a quicktime codec.

but the most recent version of VLC seems to have solved everything - now i can play back almost any content, even in the apple media player (ie quicktime player) itself.

i dont know exactly why this other other audio engine (oss 3d) screws up the quicktime system underneath itunes, but it would be interesting to get some feedback from the vlc people about it - since they are the only ones who seem to be able to create a media engine that works on the mac.
