Command-H just hides the font application, it doesn't switch you to the Finder. Depending on what application you had in front last, if you have seven applications open, you might have to hide each one before you get to the Finder. Then you have to unhide them, which also doesn't have a shortcut.

A global shortcut to bring the Finder to the front would be nice however, but there isn't one as far as I can tell. One mouse click to the dock works fine though. :)
