10.4: Print directly from the Finder

There is a simple workaround for printing finder window lists, this method has been around since the beginning (I think) of Mac OS X:

1) Locate your installed printer(s) in ~/Library/Printers
2) Drag the printer icon(s) to the Dock
3) Drag a folder icon to the newly created printer Dock item
4) Customise the print options to your taste and click the Print button

Alternatively, you can:

2) Create an alias of the printer on the desktop (Desktop Printers, anyone?)
3) Drag a folder icon to the newly created printer alias on the desktop

Granted, the output will be but a dry alphabetical list of the files and folders contained within the printed folder, with file size and modification date columns, but it's better than nothing.

One annoying shortcoming: very long filenames will overlap the other columns, but hey, it's free and easy.

Hope this helps.

I loved that! But...

I would like to print the comments for every file in a folder also!

Generally, I would like to print all the columns in the list view. is that possible? (even in Terminal)

thanx in advance
