Possibly restart a hard-crashed iPod
I accidentally discovered this "trick" in July with my 60gig iPod Photo (After trying everything the Internet and I could think of.) I was getting ready to return it under warranty, but decided to plug it in one more time - I don't know why. And it worked - fine ever since! I chanced upon the "trick" again in September with, of all things, a Frigidaire gas range that someone was throwing out "because the computer was broken and it would cost $850 to fix." Knowing that I could get the computer module cheap, and replace it myself, I asked if I could have it. It sat unplugged in my house for a week while I waited for the part to arrive. Before taking the old module out, I decide to plug the thing in and run it through diagnostics - which it passed - 100%. Didn't need to be replaced - just needed a 'rest from power.' I don't know why it works or how, but whenever something electronic stops working for reasons unexplained and apparently unfixable, I unplug it, take out all batteries, wait a week and try again! |
