10.4: Automatically handle iCal events in Mail
I think that Apple made a very ignorant assumption when implementing this!!! The Original behaviour of iCal worked very well as it was up to me to decide if I accepted an invitation or not, now it is the OS taking over a decision I can perfectly well make myself. This starts to look more and more similar to Windows OS's, something that many people just got so fed up with.
10.4: Automatically handle iCal events in Mail
I'm having this problem (can't accept invitation because email address mismatch) and neither the email nor the ICS event invitee list are to a mailing list. Both the email header address and the ICS event invitee list contain the same email address and that email appears exactly in my "Me" Address Book entry. Adding further confusion to the mix, another ICS event sent to me 2 days ago with exactly the same email address in both the email and ICS event worked... so I'm at a loss. I even viewed the raw ICS files to compare them and they are very similar, no clue why it's choking all of a sudden. OS X 10.4.4/Mail 2.0.5 (746/746.2)/iCal 2.0.3 (1055)
10.4: Automatically handle iCal events in Mail
I just had this exact same problem, so I edited the raw .ics file before importing it, and I found that if I changed any part of the "RECURRENCE-ID" field (or just removed it altogether), the I was able to import it successfully. I don't know if that will screw up the event id for subsequent updates to the event, but it at least got it into the calendar.

THAT WORKED!!!! Deleting the "RECURRENCE-ID" field allowed me to add it to iCal AND accept the event. |
