Use an alternative to the EyeHome software
Authored by: zmagyar on Nov 11, '05 08:38:59AM

Dear fellow, can somebody give more information about this product, or at least the software. This product seems to be the missing link in the mac world, eyehome being the only one in this field so far. But nobody ever mentioned this hardware in mac news...
As far as I can undestand the software you talk about is installed on the Mac and takes the media server role, but does this change the gui on eyehome? And how does this software integrate in OSX, can it play DVD insterted in the DVD player as frot row can? Can you post some GUI screenshots? And appologies to post these questions here as it is not really related to the hint but to the product, thanks Zsolt

Use an alternative to the EyeHome software

I have tested and sold quite a few of these units and my customers have been very happy with it. It has much better codec support than the Eyehome and they both seem to use the same Tomcat based server software. The MC-500's interface is much easier (IMHO) on the eyes and its HD output looks stunning through a projector. The Eyehome can't even playback HD recording from its own family of digital TV recorders.
