10.4: OS X 10.4.3 update released
Authored by: bdog on Nov 02, '05 07:05:29PM

New feature: You can now see if network users are available at the login window (Managed Clients) by clicking on the hostname a few times.

Bugs fixed:
1. iSync doesn't crash when I try to sync or edit preferences. (I had fixed this once in X.4.2 by trashing "~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices" but the problem came back. After this update, it got fixed even without trashing this Æ’.

2. Activity Monitor doesn't crash anymore, AGAIN! I had this work in X.3, then it was broken (would always crash before fully opening). Then it was working again once I upgraded to X.4. Then it was broken again… Now it's fixed again!

3. Entourage responds all the time, instead of "hanging" with the "spinning rainbow candywheel of death/pizza wheel beachball of death" every 10 seconds or so… Still need to verify this doesn't happen once I get into work and start using eMail via my exchange account…

Bugs I HOPE they fixed:
1. Clicking "through" widgets.

2. Cursor going choppy every 1-3 days, AirPort would go down, and I would need to reboot. I think it's related to lookupd issues, and unlookupd never fixed it…

3. Sound output balance getting off on it's own. (not being centered)

4. Managed clients crashing at bootup very often.

Image Capture still doesn't work if moved to another folder.

Verification of the boot volume brought down my system, causes each app to not respond one by one.

Everything seems so much faster, and I mean EVERYTHING! Also, much much MUCH less RAM being used.

Now here's hoping they REWIRE THE DAMN FINDER FROM SCRATCH, AND IN COCOA on X.5. (not holding my breath)

Also forgot to mention. I booted into single user mode, ran "fsck -fy" and it found a problem, repaired it, then automatically tried repairing the volume again, instead of making you have to do it again yourself. I don't know if X.4.2 already did this, but I do know that X.3 didn't…

*That's REWRITE the Finder from scratch...

Also, it can display your IP at the login window and there is a pref to set what is displayed by default.

So far I haven't "clicked through" any widgets.

Entourage is still very responsive, while I'm at work connected to the Exchange server.

So far no choppy cursor, and I probably would have seen it by now, so they hopefully fixed that.

Output balance is still centered as of now.

Still a bug: Sometimes when switching to another account via fast user switching, then switching back to the original account the "Color LCD" profile is unavailable and it uses "Generic RGB Profile" instead. (Everything looks blue) Restarting makes "Color LCD" appear again in the list. (will try logging out, then back in)
