Could it be that this is fixed in 10.4.3? Kernelprocess seems to have cut down in cpu-usage in 'idle' circumstances quite a bit?

Yes, it's quite a bit lower since 10.4.3. I believe Sidetrack will still bring it down a bit more, but it isn't enough difference for me to care.
