Possible to create a real alias too
Authored by: Nancy13 on Mar 25, '02 09:07:48PM

Dear rcabell,

Thank you!

Thanks to this tip you are now my new best friend. I have had OS X since the beta, always on a separate partition from OS 9. Both Desktop Folders were always available to me until September then poof. I have an alias that said OS 9 Desktop Folder but it was the wrong OS 9, it was the one on my 10 partition. I could open files that were on it through applications, but if I wanted to delete something or something accidentally got written there it was lost until I booted from that partition. I had dabbled with Terminal, deleting the alias Apple installed and reinstalling the alias but that still only got me the 9 on 10, not the 9 on the other partition. You fixed it. I'm so grateful to finally have access to that folder from the Finder again.

You really don't have to be my bestfriend, but I want you to know that I really do appreciate your help.
