Make iTunes treat an MP3 podcast as a regular MP3

What would be really handy for me is to be able to actually tag files with Apple's "Podcast" and TV show tags (season, episode etc.) That way I could import shows I captured myself and use them in the same way as purchased files. Is there any app that can write these tags?

Foud this way... Download this tool (http://www.pa-software.com/downloads.html#BC3B2E3A) ID3 Editor.

1. Drop to the desktop de mp3-podcast-file
2. Drop the file of the desktop to the ID3 Editor
3. Take out the podcast genere
4. Update botton
5. Add the file again to iTunes

For me is working fine.

Make iTunes treat an MP3 podcast as a regular MP3

I'd love to do the same - I sometimes catch onto a podcast 100 or so episodes in, and i'd love to go to the web site, download the first 10 or so episodes and put them in iTunes. Well, I can do all that, but then they don't show up in the 'podcast' section of itunes, only if I manually search for them in my library.

So I guess I need to know how 'set' the podcast flag for these MP3s I download outside of iTunes?
