A fix for Oxford chip set and Maxtor hard drive issues
Authored by: scottieb1 on Oct 12, '05 03:11:03PM

Here I thought this was it...

But no. My enclosure works with USB 2.0, but much slower than I'd like. It also has 2 FW800 ports, running on the Oxford 912 chipset. But when plugged in via FW800, NOTHING works. The drive spins up, but does not mount, and the enclosure does not show up in the firmware updater I downloaded from the site above.

Is it the enclosrre? The FW800 ports? Again, it works fine with USB, but with FW800 it does not show up at all - not in the firmware, system profiler, or anything. I also tried it with a FW800 to FW400 cable (to a FW400 port) and still nothing. I know the ports are fine as I have other drives which work. I tried connecting the drive both with other drives connected and solo. Nothing is working. Any ideas? This is a new enclosure.

Thanks,
ScottieB
