10.4: Avoid Spotlight issues when adding Classic
Authored by: sweyhrich on Oct 04, '05 08:13:49AM

I've added 10.4 to six of our computers since Tiger came out, and although I did an install from the Tiger disk, no System 9 was installed for me. So I copied the System Folder from the hard drive backup I made before wiping and installing, and then did that weird System Folder blessing ritual so it would be recognized, and on all of the computers Classic works fine. I just tried using Spotlight to look for "Apple Audio Extension", and it dutifully showed that file from the Extensions folder with the System Folder.

Not sure if this is what the article mentions as "installing System 9 from another computer", but it seems to be working here. Computers involved were a clamshell iBook G3 333, iBook G3 500, iBook G3 700, iMac DV 450, PowerBook G4 867, and PowerBook G4 1.67.
